I know it looks gross but I promise you it does not smell at all and has been cleaned but has a cement like coating at the bottom. This potty house is extremely helpful in reducing odor as I had gerbils and they instantly used that to go to the bathroom which reduced the times I had to clean the cage and I just scooped out the soiled litter daily or every other day.

This cage has an opening from the top and from the side.
